FAQs
Who can benefit from the Ten Series?
The short answer… anybody! The Rolf Method Ten Series is ideal for anyone aiming to enhance alignment, range of motion, and well-being, regardless of age or activity level. Whether you're experiencing chronic discomfort or seeking better daily mobility, everyone can experience lasting improvements in posture and movement.
What is a Structural Integration session like?
The initial session will begin with questions about health history, what you wish to accomplish from the Rolf Method work and how you perceive your body/movement day to day. This information is then used to begin each session assessing structural alignment, gate and simple movement patterns. Building communication between practitioner and client, as well as awareness of ones own movement patterns, is an integral part of the process. The assessment informs practitioner about how to approach your individual structure as the session moves into manual fascial work on the table. Participation is important as you will sometimes be asked to engage in small movements that help release restrictions and create new movement patterns. Some Rolf Method work is also done standing or seated on a bench. The session will end with assessing change in the structure and noticing sensation to continue building the mind/body awareness that will empower you and your ability to find lasting results.
How frequent are sessions when doing the Ten Series?
The recommended pace is one session per week. This leaves enough time for your body to settle and integrate the work between sessions, but also keeps progress rolling so you feel the momentum of the changes. Should you need to take short breaks in the series there are ideal times to do so, such as between sessions 3 and 4, or 7 and 8. Your individual needs for pace can be discussed with practitioner upon your first session.
Does the Rolf Method hurt?
The aim is always to work with your individual nervous system. Although Structural Integration can sometimes be intense and include deep tissue work, practitioner and client work together to find the right balance of pressure and challenge for you.
How can I prepare for my session?
Clothing - Structural Integration utilizes a variety of positions for which some clothing is necessary to be able to move freely. Options like underwear, briefs, athletic shorts or swimsuit bottoms work great for lower body. For upper body a comfortable bra, spaghetti tank or swimsuit top will do. Just be sure clothing is loose and comfortable enough to work around with ease.
Hydration - Water is key for lubricating soft tissue and preparing it to change, as well as helping to prevent soreness and fatigue post-session. Please be sure to drink water before and after your session.
Hygiene - Please be mindful of your hygiene and be sure to shower the day of your appointment.
